Biffo first appeared in
the Beano Comic in 1952 drawn by Dudley D Watkins who also created
Lord Snooty and The Dandy's Desperate Dan. Biffo took the cover
strip slot from Big Eggo and remained there introducing the comic
until 1974 when he was usurped by Dennis the Menace. Biffo was
joined by his companion Buster in the 1950s. After Watkins death
in 1969 the Biffo artist pen was taken by David Sutherland until
Biffo was temporarily retired in 1980. The strip teturned in the
1990s as a short 3 frame cartoon with no words drawn by Sid Burgon.
