| History-
A descendent
of the Russian royal family,Natalia was orphaned as an infant.
She was raised by Ivan Petrovich, a Russian soldier who had
found her abandoned. Natalia grew into an athletic and intelligent
young woman, she became a renowned ballerina and married a Russian
test pilot, Alexi Shostakov. Alexi was conscripted by the KGB
and spirited away from his wife, who was told that he had died,
to become the Soviet super hero Red Guardian. To help her cope
with her grief, Natalia joined the KGB herself and became their
top secret agent the Black Widow. Whilst on an assignment in
the US she met and fell in love with Clint Barton (Hawkeye)
who was at that time a criminal, Hawkeye then gave up crime
and joined the Avengers. Natalia was kidnapped and brainwashed
by Chinese intelligence operatives and sent against the Avengers
and her lover Hawkeye After being freed from the thrall of the
Chinese, she defected to America where she offered her services
to Nick
Fury and Shield. She later teamed up with Daredevil
and was for a while with the LA based group the Champions. She
is also a part time member of the Avengers. |
