| History-
Mar-
Vel was a member of the Kree, a humanoid alien race with a
galaxy spanning empire. An entity known as the Supreme Intelligence
was interbreeding the Kree with other humanoid races in an
experiment to advance Kree evolution. |

The Supreme Intelligence engineered events so that Mar- Vel
was sent to Earth as a spy, its plan was to merge Mar- Vel's
psyche with that of an earthman releasing limitless psionic
energy that the Supreme Intelligence would link into and use
for it's own purposes. On Earth, Mar- Vel took the identity
of Dr. Walter Lawson and began to grow attached to this world
and it's people. This caused Mar- Vel to disobey a direct
order from his Kree superiors and he was sentenced to death.
He escaped execution and was thrown into the Negative Zone.
The Supreme Intelligence made it possible for him to telepathically
contact Rick Jones, former sidekick of Captain America and
friend of the Hulk. He led Rick to an abandoned Kree base,
where he put on a pair of golden extraterrestrial bracelets
known as the Nega- Bands. When Rick Struck the bracelets together
his atoms swapped place with those of Mar- Vel, the Mega-
Bands kept the two in telepathic contact throughout. Captain
Mar- Vel finally managed to rescue Rick from the Negative
Zone with the help of Reed
Richards, and the two could now exist simultaneously on
Earth. During a war between the Kree and the shape shifting
Scrulls, the Supreme Intelligence contacted Rick and awakened
his latent psionic abilities known as the Destiny Force. Rick
used his powers to paralyse the warring empires so that the
Supreme Intelligence could regain control, this left Rick
close to death after his supreme effort and Mar- Vel joined
with him to share his life force and restore the boy. Mar-
Vel was then called to battle the mad Titan Thanos, who threatened
to destroy all life. Mar- Vel was transported away by a being
known as Eon and was granted cosmic awareness and was given
the title protector of the universe. He returned to end Thanos'
reign of terror and then returned to Earth. On Earth he battled
Nitro, the exploding man who released a canister of nerve
gas, Captain Mar- Eel sealed the container and defeated Nitro,
but not before the contents had effected him. Some time later
after an heroic career as a super hero the carcinogenic nature
of the gas led to him developing incurable cancer. He died
on Saturn's moon Titan surrounded by his friends and some
of Earths mightiest heroes. After his death his lover Elissius
took some of his genes and used them to conceive a child.
The son of Mar- Vel known as Genus was raised and grew at
an accelerated rate on an isolated world. On discovering who
his father was he too donned the Nega- Bands and called himself
Captain Marvel. |
