Born in
Siberia, Illyana spent the first few years of her life on her
parents farm in the Ust- Ordynski Collective. Shortly after
her brother Pietre (Colossus) left for America to join the X-
Men Illyana and others close to the X- men were kidnapped by
Miss Locke who held them captive to force the X- Men to rescue
the assassin Arcade from his captivity by Dr Doom's robotic
duplicate. The X- Men rescued Illyana and the other captives
and it was decided that she should stay in America with her
brother. Some time after the X- Men and Illyana were taken to
Limbo by the Demon Sorcerer Belasco, as the X- Men escaped,
Illyana was left behind and held by Belasco. Whilst she was
in Limbo Belasco corrupted her soul with black magic creating
the Darkchilde the portion of Illyana's soul tainted with Evil.
Whilst in Limbo she was initially schooled in magic by the sorceress
Storm, the X- Men Storm from an alternate Earth trapped in Limbo
were her alternate X- Men had died only a demonic Nightcrawler
and Kitty Pride remained. As her powers increased she became
Belasco's apprentice but never fully following the dark path
and plotted to destroy her master creating a weapon from the
pure part of her life-force, her Soulsword. Eventually Illyana
battled Belasco and drove him from Limbo, becoming Mistress
of the demonic realm. Using her mutant teleport discs Illyana
returned to Earth, but time was very different in Limbo and
the seven years that had past there had been but an instant
on Earth. She was followed to earth by Belasco's Demon servant
Sym but she defeated him and promised allegiance to her as Miseries
of Limbo. Illyana remained on Earth and joined the New Mutants.
After some time with the team and many adventures the Earth
was invaded by Sym and his demon hoards. The invasion was thwarted
but in the ensuing battle the Darkchilde was destroyed and Illyana
returned to her original seven year old self with no memory
of her ordeals. The young Illyana returned to her parents in
Russia but they were killed and she came back to America to
be with Pietre. She shortly after contracted the Legacy Virus
and died. |
